This year, Formosa Solar once again partnered with the BJS Foundation to advance our Energy Efficiency and Support Program. Alongside our ongoing work helping families in need in Pingtung replace ageing, energy-intensive refrigerators with Grade 1 energy-efficient models — easing electricity costs while lowering household carbon emissions — this year we are also supporting the Foundation in bringing sustainability courses into local communities.
The courses are designed for older residents, covering the fundamentals of net zero and energy saving, along with hands-on small appliance repair and upcycling from discarded materials. Rather than lecturing on sustainability, we hope the hands-on experience makes saving energy feel like a natural part of everyday life.
Now in its fourth year, the program reflects a belief we hold at Formosa Solar: the energy transition does not happen only at our solar sites. It also happens in the everyday choices we make to use electricity at home a little better.
